PER DIEM HEARING OFFICER CONFIDENTIAL
Office of Labor and Employee Relations (Pending availability of funds and Board of Education approval) The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Per Diem Hearing Officer within the Office of Labor and Employee Relations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 1.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree. 2. Master's Degree in Labor Relation or Law Degree with admission in New Jersey License to practice law in New Jersey (preferred). 3. Five (5) years or more of professional level experience in labor relation and disciplinary hearings.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Conducts and presides over disciplinary hearings in accordance with Board of Education and Civil Service Commission protocols. 2. Takes testimony and establishes a record. 3. Makes findings of fact and case recommendations on disciplinary action. 4. Drafts comprehensive case specific reports. 5. Informs employees of their rights, entitlements or available services, as necessary. 6. Analyzes cases in accordance with existing laws, regulations or professional practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 1.
Excellent oral, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills. 2. Excellent legal writing and research skills. 3. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple cases in a timely manner. 4. Knowledge of theory, practices, and procedures of labor relations and Civil Service discipline system. 5. Knowledge of disciplinary procedures. 6. Ability to read and interpret the provisions of New Jersey laws relating to personnel matters and the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission and to apply them to specific situations.

SALARY, EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION 1.
Salary:
Compensation will be consistent with experience and education. 2.
Employment Period:
Twelve (12) Months 3.
