• This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? The Juvenile Probation Officer is responsible for providing supervision of clients on probation, supervised release or whom are under conditions of release to monitor compliance with conditions of probation and or court orders. Much of the contact is made in the field (client's homes, school, programs). The JPO supports the Senior JPO by providing information regarding client progress and compliance and or obstacles to success. The JPO will collect urine samples, implement the GPS system for appropriate clients, perform other case management duties and will document client contacts and attempted contacts in FACTS. How does it get done?Key responsibilities include:
Supervision of at-risk and delinquent youth, field visits, collection of urine samples for drug testing, use and implementation of the GPS system, communication with primary JPO. (not intended to be all inclusive of job duties) Who are the customers? Clients are youth adjudicated for misdemeanor and felony offenses, youth pending court on conditions of release and youth on supervised release. Ideal Candidate Clients are youth adjudicated for misdemeanor and felony offenses, youth pending court on conditions of release and youth on supervised release. Minimum Qualification Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in sociology, psychology, corrections, guidance and counseling, social work, police science, criminal justice, juvenile justice, education, public administration, or closely related field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required education. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting. Late hours, weekend and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Some travel may be required. The following conditions are also applicable; Incumbents must have a telephone and must be willing to give this phone number to the Director of Field Services; Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at all times; Incumbents must be willing to be frequently on-call 24 hours a day. Work is in an office setting, client's homes and institutions; Incumbents must be willing to travel, and be willing to work shifts, holidays, weekends and call back for emergencies; Incumbents must be willing to work with offenders that have high-risk behaviors and require intervention or services; Incumbents must be willing to work with potential risk from offenders who are possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol or otherwise distressed; Supplemental Information Do you know what Total Compensation is?
