$49,593 annually
SUMMARY:
This position is assigned to the Community Intensive Supervision Program (CISP) of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Family Division, Juvenile Section. The Community Monitor assumes an important role within the Community Intensive Supervision Program, serving as role model for responsible behavior and personal integrity. This position is responsible for the direct supervision and control of juvenile males committed to the program as an alternative to institutionalization. Monitors work directly with Probation Officers/Case Managers and juveniles, implementing the case plans of case managers, reporting progress and recommending progression through program levels. This individual is expected to work both independently and as part of a team effort within the responsibilities of the position, generally following routine procedures that are regularly reviewed by the Center supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education level of high school degree or equivalent or experience or training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Ability to establish and facilitate strong, clear communication boundaries with male juveniles. Ability to arbitrate issues, resolve issues and persuade youth toward socially acceptable actions. Ability to exercise authority with non-complainant male juveniles, including physical control of disruptive juveniles. Ability to work varying shifts, Monday-Friday 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm, Sat & Sunday 1-9 pm; although training or special activities can deviate from these times. Ability to deal with stress associated with position/environment. Act 33/34 Clearance, FBI Criminal Record Clearance, and Pennsylvania Driver's License/Insurance. Ability to drive a 10 passenger van.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet with assigned youth daily to discuss behavior, school, family, job, attitudes, authority, social skills and goal-setting. Maintain daily contact with juvenile's school, work site, support services, home and, parents/guardians. Ensure appropriate behavior of juvenile inside/outside center on community service projects, field trips, recreations, etc. Use various techniques to confront, guide and support youth, as well as, oversee random drug test procedures. Perform individual/group counseling sessions and oversee random drug tests.
