Job Description

Provides responsible supervision to assigned probationers to ensure compliance with Court ordered conditions thereby providing a service to the Courts of Hidalgo County and protecting the community.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervise probationers to monitor compliance with the orders of the Court, Refer probationers to appropriate community resource agencies in an effort to effectuate their rehabilitation, Ensure that all fees are paid on a timely basis, Maintain accurate chronological on all probationer activity, Assist the Courts in revocation hearings as necessary, Prepare monthly statistical reports, Notify the Court immediately, through proper channels, of any violation of probation, Conduct reassessments and case reviews, Regular and timely attendance is a must; be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed, Must possess reliable transportation and liability insurance for work related travel, at all times, Ensure compliance with all CJAD standards, and Perform other related duties as assigned.
Specifications:

Knowledge:
Must possess an understanding of the Criminal Justice System, Must have an understanding of the methods and resources used in providing supervision to a caseload of persons on probation, Must possess quality analytical, verbal, and written skills in order to effectively communicate activities/recommendations to the Court, Must possess good verbal communication skills - English and Spanish Must possess good written communication skills - English . 2.
Education/Experience:
Must have acquired a bachelor's degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The best matched candidate will be selected to fill this position. 3.
Other:
Must have not ever been convicted of or placed on court-ordered community supervision/probation for any criminal offense classified as a Class B misdemeanor or higher.
