Job Description:
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety and health program that ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a culture of safety throughout the facility. This position works closely with plant leadership and employees to minimize workplace hazards, reduce incidents, and ensure a safe working environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, policies, and procedures. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable regulatory requirements. Conduct routine cleanup in the plant, safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments throughout the facility. Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Develop and conduct safety orientation and ongoing employee training programs. Maintain required safety documentation, records, and regulatory reports.. Coordinate emergency response planning, evacuation drills, and emergency preparedness activities. Manage workers' compensation claims and assist with return-to-work programs. Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE). Partner with department managers to develop safe work practices and job hazard analyses. Monitor contractor safety compliance while on company property. Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of safety management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, lumber, or heavy equipment environment. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, confined space entry, fall protection, and industrial hygiene practices. Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses. Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software. Physical Requirements Ability to walk throughout an industrial facility for extended periods. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work in varying weather and environmental conditions. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment Work Environment This position works in both an office setting and throughout an active industrial manufacturing plant. Exposure to noise, moving equipment, dust, temperature extremes, and other industrial conditions are expected. Appropriate PPE is required while in production areas.
