Project Based•Montgomery, Alabama Position Summary:
The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing environmental, health, and safety programs for a utility-scale solar construction project exceeding 50 MW. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client requirements while fostering a strong safety culture across all site operations.Key Responsibilities:
Lead all on-site EHS activities for large-scale solar construction projects Develop and implement site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASP) Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, including 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) Conduct daily site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits Facilitate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task planning meetings Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective actions Maintain OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301) and project safety documentation Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and clients on safety expectations Monitor environmental compliance including SWPPP, erosion control, and waste management Enforce PPE requirements and safe work practices across all crews Track and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, etc.) Support emergency response planning and drillsQualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of EHS experience in construction (solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil preferred) Experience on utility-scale solar projects (>50 MW) strongly preferred OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required) Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices Experience managing subcontractor safety performance Ability to work in fast-paced, remote construction environmentsPreferred Certifications:
OSHA 500
(Trainer) CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional)First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to influence and enforce safety compliance across multiple crews Excellent documentation and reporting skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plusWorking Conditions:
Outdoor construction environment with exposure to weather conditions Extended hours, weekends, and travel may be required Walking uneven terrain and standing for long periodsCompensation & Benefits:
