In this role, you will oversee a team of technicians responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and installation of portable fire extinguishers, kitchen fire suppression systems, special hazard suppression systems, and related life safety equipment. Your role involves coordinating service schedules, managing compliance documentation, supporting technician development, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring all required inspection and service reports are completed and submitted accurately and on time. The role is primarily office-based but includes regular field support, customer interactions, jobsite visits, and oversight of department operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Manage daily operations of the Fire Extinguisher & Suppression Department, ensuring timely, efficient, and compliant service delivery. Supervise, train, mentor, and support technicians performing inspections, maintenance, repairs, testing, and installations. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable NFPA standards, state regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company policies. Coordinate scheduling of technicians, inspections, service calls, projects, emergency requests, and customer appointments. Review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards. Upload and submit inspection reports, service documentation, compliance records, and required paperwork through customer and regulatory portals. Maintain accurate records of inspections, service reports, certifications, contracts, and customer documentation. Assist in troubleshooting field-related issues and provide technical support to technicians and customers. Ensure department performance objectives and customer commitments are consistently achieved. Inventory & Asset Management Oversee inventory levels of extinguishers, suppression system components, service parts, chemicals, tools, and related equipment. Coordinate purchasing and ordering of inventory to maintain adequate stock levels. Monitor equipment usage and assist with asset management and inventory control processes. Ensure department vehicles, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and available for operations. Customer Service & Business Development Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing exceptional service and support. Address customer concerns, service issues, and questions in a professional and timely manner. Assist customers with regulatory compliance requirements and service recommendations. Support sales initiatives by identifying service opportunities, system deficiencies, upgrades, and additional life safety solutions. Identify opportunities for department growth, operational efficiencies, and process improvements. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities Assist with budgeting, forecasting, departmental planning, and performance reporting. Monitor department productivity, labor utilization, and service metrics. Review work orders, invoices, and service documentation to ensure accuracy and timely processing. Prepare reports and provide updates to senior management regarding department performance and objectives. Safety Leadership Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Conduct field observations and safety evaluations. Verify compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements. Assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training initiatives. Coach employees on safe work practices and hazard recognition. Partner with management to reduce incidents and improve overall safety performance.
