Safety Professional

Job description: Southwest Irrigation, LLC is seeking a Safety Pro to join our team working in Leaching at the Freeport Morenci, Arizona mine. This person will work in conjunction with our current Safety Professional to insure a culture of health and safety on the site.

Responsibilities:

Lead, promote and actively engage site personnel to ensure a culture of health and safety and accountability. Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to all site personnel on health and safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with health and safety federal, state, and local regulations, as well as compliance with Company policies and procedures. Responsible for the health and safety training programs, as required by regulatory agencies and Company policies. Identify, develop, and communicate best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks and raise health and safety awareness. Conduct and lead risk assessments to identify and control exposures to workplace hazards. Will lead health and safety audits and inspections to identify and correct potential hazards. Will lead the investigation of all accidents, near-miss incidents and occupational injuries, and tracking implementation of preventive/corrective measures as required. Manage workers compensation injuries and return-to-work activities. Build relationships with health and safety regulators and participate in regulatory health and safety inspections. Manage the security services, including developing and implementing site security strategies. Maintain records of safety performance and regularly report results and trends to Company management. Report incidents and/or injuries in accordance with regulatory standards and/or company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications:

Strong leadership abilities Must have thorough knowledge of MSHA and other agency regulations as required. Demonstrate good understanding of key safety principles in the mining industry. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Work effectively and respond quickly under pressure situations. Ability to teach, mentor and motivate others. Experience with root cause analysis methodologies
