Our Client, a well-established facilities services company based in Berkeley, California, is seeking an experienced Safety & Risk Management Manager to lead and strengthen its safety and risk management programs across multiple divisions. This role is responsible for driving safety initiatives, ensuring OSHA and regulatory compliance, reducing workplace risk, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who works well with operations, HR, and field teams to improve safety performance, minimize risk, and support day-to-day business operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead the day-to-day administration of the company's safety and risk management programs across multiple divisions. Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Maintain and continuously improve the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), safety policies, and standard operating procedures. Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Monitor PPE compliance, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and asbestos (ACM) program requirements where applicable. Manage workers' compensation claims in partnership with Human Resources, insurance carriers, and operational leadership. Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence. Track safety performance, injury trends, and key metrics while preparing reports and recommendations for leadership. Develop and deliver safety training programs, ensuring employees maintain required certifications and regulatory compliance. Maintain accurate safety records, training documentation, and compliance files. Serve as the primary safety resource for managers and field teams by providing coaching, guidance, and practical solutions. Partner with operations and executive leadership to strengthen workplace safety, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Lead safety meetings and promote a culture of accountability, communication, and employee engagement throughout the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
5-8 years of safety experience in facilities services, engineering operations, construction, industrial services, or a similar field environment. Experience managing safety programs and workers' compensation claims across multiple locations. Strong working knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and applicable workplace safety regulations. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build strong working relationships and effectively partner with employees at all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience working in a union environment. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
