Job Overview:
Conducts safety orientation for all new hire employees, ensuring that all new hires are educated and trained, prior to going on site. Conducts safety audits, documents audits, and is part of the solution for corrective actions; Maintains safety compliance within OSHA, Company & Client standards. Trains employees on site-specific hazards, fall protection, aerial lifts, and conducts toolbox talks as required. Maintains a current and accurate SDS file for all materials on site, ensuring OSHA compliance. Maintain and submit all safety-related documentation, such as PTPs and inspection forms. Provides technical assistance and supervision on safety-related matters (such as new equipment, procedures, etc.). Conducts accident and near-miss investigations while generating accident reports as necessary to appropriate company leaders. Prepare, review, and update AHA's as necessary to meet contract standards and compliance. Attend and review daily Pre-Task assignments to reflect work being performed. Maintain a positive and proactive relationship with employees, supervision, and clients. Provide training to employees; Conduct OSHA 10 & 30-hour training, as needed. Attend all meetings as required by clients. Perform safety equipment inventory and assist with ordering safety supplies. Ensure all site permits are obtained.
Education/Training & Work Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Preferred:
Five (5) years of related experience as a safety professional in a commercial construction environment. Previous steel erection experience and ability to work effectively with tradesmen.
Specialized Knowledge Certificates & Licenses:
OSHA 500
certification First Aid/CPR certified
EM 385-1
experience BCSP Credentials Understanding of OSHA standards, in particular, Steel Erection, fall protection, cranes, rigging, and heavy construction Knowledge of PPE, HAZCOM, Confined Space, and Fall Protection procedures Knowledge of OSHA, ADOSH, Cal OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations. Knowledge of all other applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations
Software & Technology:
The position will require the frequent use of MS Window10; MS Office 365; BlueBeam PDF Software; Concur Software for expenses, or applicable software; Android mobile devices.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The position requires as many hours as needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days, including evenings and weekends, can be required for this position. Position may require air/road travel as needed. A clean driving record will be required due to the required road travel. A current and valid driver's license and proof of acceptable insurance are required. This position is outdoors. Therefore, being subject to inclement weather conditions and loud noise can be expected.
