Job Description

Position Overview The Food Safety Supervisor is accountable for the development, oversight, and ongoing maintenance of all food safety systems across multiple production sites. This role ensures full adherence to applicable regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels, including standards set by agencies such as the FDA, USDA, and CDFA. In addition to maintaining compliance, this position plays a key role in supporting internal/external audits, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a strong food safety culture throughout the organization. This individual also serves as the alternate SQF Practitioner when required. Core Responsibilities Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve food safety systems, including HACCP plans, GMP programs, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and Preventive Controls frameworks Perform scheduled and unscheduled facility inspections to verify compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, including GMP audits, glass/brittle plastic checks, and exterior grounds evaluations Maintain complete and accurate food safety documentation, including corrective action reports, verification records, and program logs Lead follow-up activities related to internal audit findings and ensure timely resolution of nonconformances Act as the primary liaison with third-party pest management providers and oversee pest control program effectiveness Deliver training and ongoing coaching to production personnel regarding food safety expectations, hygiene practices, and compliance standards Investigate deviations, incidents, and potential food safety risks; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions Monitor facility air curtain systems and ensure proper operation and compliance Partner with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production teams to integrate food safety requirements into daily operations Review and validate food safety policies and ensure alignment with prerequisite programs and applicable regulations Oversee allergen control programs, traceability systems, and recall readiness procedures Stay informed on evolving regulatory requirements, industry standards, and emerging food safety risks Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental and organizational objectives Food Safety & Compliance Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF requirements at the facility level Verify monitoring activities to confirm finished products meet established food safety and quality standards Support validation and verification activities associated with the SQF food safety system Participate in annual review and reassessment of the food safety management system Assist in ongoing development, execution, and maintenance of integrated food safety and quality programs Coordinate with cross-functional teams and training personnel to implement food safety initiatives as required Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the Compliance Manager. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Dairy Science, or related field preferred Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations and quality system requirements, including implementation and compliance practices Minimum of five years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment; dairy or food processing experience preferred Familiarity with SQF systems; completion of SQF Practitioner training is considered an asset Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in documentation and execution Ability to work independently and resolve issues with minimal supervision Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong collaboration ability across departments Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and related business software tools Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) required; Spanish language skills are considered beneficial #jdp By providing your phone number, you consent to: (1) receive automated text messages and calls from the Judge Group, Inc. and its affiliates (collectively "Judge") to such phone number regarding job opportunities, your job application, and for other related purposes.
