Training and Safety Supervisor HARTransit Danbury, CT Job Details Full-time $65,000 - $70,000 a year 10 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications CDL B In-person customer service CDL High school diploma or GED Dispatching Hiring Recruiting Training & development Full Job Description Under the direction of the Director of Operations, develop and administer complete new-hire driver training program including elements such as introduction to the HART organization and services, vehicle operations and safety, drug and alcohol policy, work ru1es, pre-trip inspection, accident and emergency procedures, wheelchair lift and securement procedures, cdl testing and training, and other elements as needed. Develop and administer ongoing training programs for current operators as needed. Assist the Personal Manager in the selection and screening of Operator applicants. Assess and implement operator retraining as needed. Manage, plan and coordinator local operator rodeo. Develop and administer operator uniform program. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Training Supervisor(s) in the absence of the Operations Supervisor(s) supervises operators and dispatchers, manages the daily operation of all transit services, and oversees and monitors the use of the computerized paratransit scheduling system (including daily backup). The Training Supervisor's (in the absence of the Operations Supervisor) specific responsibilities include the following: Opening and closing of transit district's Operations Center facility. Identify daily operational staffing needs (including special trips) and ensure adequate operator and dispatcher coverage. Ensure compliance with operations policies and procedures, work rules, personnel policies and procedures, and labor agreement. Monitor and evaluate daily vehicle operations. Conduct road checks related to on-time performance, safety, and customer service. Take charge at the scene of an accident involving transit district vehicle(s). Conduct accident investigations, make as to accident preventability, and recommend and implement disciplinary action and retraining needs related to accidents. Prepare and submit accident reports and claims to insurance companies. Assist dispatchers as needed in radio communications, paratransit client scheduling, telephone coverage and customer service. Investigate and resolve customer complaints. Review and respond to informal and Step 1 union grievances. Assess and implement disciplinary actions for operators and dispatchers. Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager or his designee on the availability, appearance and defects, and assignment of transit district vehicles. Manage routine clerical duties including personnel recordkeeping and documentation, time cards, approval of operator/dispatcher payroll time variances, vacation pick, and daily operations forms and incident/accident reports. Monitor daily farebox probing and vault dumping. Coordinate with police, emergency, public works and other public agencies as needed in daily operations. Communicate detour and/or delay information to local radio stations as needed. Participate in the nomination process for employee awards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma. Four years of experience in public transit operations. Experience with a program of progressive discipline. Ability to work with the public to respond to questions and complaints. Ability to perform record keeping including time cards, payroll records, daily operations forms, transfer counts. Ability to work with other local agencies including Police and Public Works Department. Ability to communicate effectively in bother written and oral communications. Some day and overnight travel. Must have and maintain commercial Driver's License.
