This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Responsibilities Inspect work areas, equipment, and practices to ensure they meet federal, state, and local safety laws. Identify potential physical or chemical hazards and work with management to correct unsafe conditions. Oversee operations of a fleet consisting of 100+ vehicles in seven locations. Coordinate with dispatchers, managers and drivers to ensure safe, reliable and efficient driving operations. Monitor fleet and driver performance and utilization. Maintain accurate records for vehicles and equipment, including assignments, locations, VINs/serial numbers, plates, registrations, unit numbers, GPS/telematics, maintenance history and replacement timing. Oversee registration, renewals, titles, plates, inspections, and other compliance requirements. Manage applicable DOT/FMCSA and state commercial vehicle compliance for fleet including USDOT registration, required updates, vehicle markings, inspections, maintenance records and related reporting. Manage the CDL process including medical certification, maintaining valid licenses, and validate FMCSA clearing house registration. Assist with accident investigations, insurance claims, and safety-related matters. Develop and implement fleet management strategies and safety protocols. Responsible for vehicle acquisition, transfers, and disposals. Ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, and other relevant safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Coordinate required driver and operator training, including defensive driving, forklift training and other remedial training when needed. Review telematic, incident history, inspection reports and other performance information to identify trends, coaching needs, and opportunities to reduce risk. Skills Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and transportation-related compliance requirements. Experience in fleet management software systems. Prefer 5 years of safety experience and transportation, truck, or fleet management experience. Experience using Samsara for fleet monitoring, compliance, and reporting is a plus. Knowledge of transportation insurance claims and accident management. Exceptional organizational skills with an eye for detail in documentation and process improvement initiatives.
