Oversee and reviews protocols for the operations of the Building Code Program to ensure that construction and maintenance activities performed on university facilities comply with the appropriate regulations. Issues permits and certificate of occupancy. Responsible for the timely identification and reporting of safety concerns and violations. Assist in foreseeing the evolving needs of the organization, researches workable solutions and assembles applicable information for decision making, planning, and formulating policies to operationalize new programs and modifications to existing programs as part of a collaborative team effort Directs, executes, and reviews the technical, administrative, personnel and budgetary requirements for Building Code office and Fire Safety to ensure compliance with regulations and university policy. Responsible for collaboration and cooperation in strategic planning, staffing decisions, policy development and other key areas as a member of the Facilities management team. Independently performs building and campus inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements making recommendations to minimize potential environmental risks. Reviews internal and external audits, inspections and investigations of University operations and activities, laboratories and related facilities to ensure compliance with regulations and policy while continually assessing the potential for quality and customer service improvements. Conducts investigations to proactively promote a safe and healthy environment for all members of the FSU community. Responsible for policy making and delivery of safety practices to campus stakeholders. Interacts with campus officials, local, state and federal authorities to ensure programs are achieving compliance through implementation of best practices while maintaining budgetary constraints. Continually works alongside the Fire Manager (Authority having jurisdiction) to approve permits collaboratively. Participates in university activities, developing partnerships throughout the University in order to attain departmental goals and objectives. Serves on committees and participates in training programs through development, presentation, and attendance to ensure that relevant expert knowledge and specialized resources are being effectively utilized in addressing campus safety and health concerns. Qualifications Master's degree and four years of experience or a bachelor's degree and six years of related experience or high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience. A valid Florida Building Code Administrator's license. A valid Florida plans reviewer and inspector license with a minimum of two disciplines in accordance with FL Statutes. A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
