Job Description

Schedule:
32 hours per week, 4 days per week, day shift, no weekends or holidays The Quality/Education Manager is responsible for the operational functions of quality management and performance improvement, healthcare education, patient safety, hospital informatics, infection prevention, risk management, and cardiac rehab, in accordance with hospital and departmental standards, policies and applicable Standards of Practice. Appointed by the Governing Board of Trustees, Medical Staff, and RMC Administration to be responsible for the day-to-day operation and coordination of the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program. Collaborates with the leadership team to implement improvement initiatives across the organization. Works collaboratively with hospital leadership, medical staff, and the integrated healthcare team align department goals and strategies with hospital strategic goals. Supervises Infection Prevention Nurse, Cardiac Rehab Nurses, and Hospital Informatics Nurse while supporting each role's associated priorities and functions. Oversees the nursing education department and offers adaptable support to various units as needed. Teaches certification courses required for various clinical roles in the hospital and community. Promotes the achievement of outstanding performance on key, nationally benchmarked metrics of quality, safety and experience. Serve as a liaison to all healthcare services, including patient care services, clinical information technology and administrative departments. Uses effective communication skills with medical staff, hospital employees, patients and families. Assists in writing, reviewing, revising and implementing policies and procedures specific to Quality Management, Nursing Administration, and Risk Management. Catalyst for identifying and conforming to quality and accreditation standards. Fosters an environment that values continuous quality improvement. Assumes leadership role in the development of process improvements that solve operational problems, drives cost-effective practices and improves quality, service, experience and productivity. Possesses a strong understanding of process improvement tools and methodologies with the ability to translate this knowledge to meet staff needs and mentor staff accordingly. Promotes initiatives in care delivery and practice that focus on patient safety. Responsible for the coordination of quality management and risk management functions. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, oversees the events reporting process, root cause analyses, and event investigations. Works with hospital departments to establish quality improvement indicators & projects. Attends conferences, meetings, in-services and continuing education programs as needed. Maintains awareness of current trends and community health concerns. Registered Nurse with current license to practice in state of Iowa Minimum of Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field or five years of applicable healthcare operations experience including quality and process improvement experience required Master's Degree preferred Previous leadership/management experience preferred Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) obtained within 3 years of employment American Heart Association (AHA) Certification Instructor (ACLS, PALS, BLS, First Aid), preferred Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Training required BLS required
