Job Description

Job Title:
EHS Director Job Description The EHS Director is responsible for leading, managing, and continuously improving the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at the Morton Grove site. This role ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as alignment with global EHS standards. The EHS Director serves as the site EHS authority and a strategic partner to various departments, driving a strong safety culture while enabling safe and compliant business growth, including the safe handling and scale-up of high potency active pharmaceutical ingredients. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain the site EHS strategy, policies, and objectives in alignment with corporate EHS standards and business needs. Lead and mentor the site EHS team, ensuring clear accountabilities and technical competency. Propose, manage, and monitor the annual EHS budget and operational expenses. Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, IEPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements relevant to chemical/API manufacturing. Own the site risk assessment framework, including JHA/JSA, job profile risk assessments, and management of change from an EHS perspective. Interface with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and external auditors; lead preparation, execution, and follow-up of inspections and audits. Provide EHS leadership on process safety topics, including hazardous chemical handling and contractor management. Oversee programs related to chemical inventory management, hazardous waste characterization, and emergency response preparedness. Maintain a strong field presence on the shop floor, partnering with Operations and Engineering to proactively identify and mitigate EHS risks. Define and oversee site EHS training programs, ensuring continuous improvement of safety culture through engagement and visible leadership. Assure leadership for investigations of EHS incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions. Track and analyze EHS KPIs, report site performance to corporate stakeholders, and identify opportunities for improvement. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in the Sciences. 10-20 years of experience within EHS. Problem-solving skills and expertise with key customers as it relates to EHS issues. Strong expertise with OSHA, EPA, IEPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements relevant to chemical/API manufacturing. Experience in environmental health, safety programs, and compliance. Proficiency in chemical safety and API regulations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Morton Grove, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr. 401k, health insurance, dental, paid holidays, PTO (15 days), etc. Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Morton Grove,IL.
