This key position administers the overall safety and compliance program and training programs at Riverside Transport, Inc. and is ultimately responsible for the safety performance of the entire organization. Job Duties Plans and implements all safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules/regulations, company policies and acceptable safety standards of the industry Ensures processes and training support business operations while focused on being below threshold in all CSA BASICs Takes appropriate measures to be always ready to successfully navigate a DOT Audit and maintain a Satisfactory Safety Rating Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems Plans, develops and implements programs to train managers, employees, and contractors in transportation and safe working practices Formulates and implements work safety standards and enforces company procedures Officiates over in-house investigations of accidents and injuries involving independent contractors and vehicles and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for the company's use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations Provides information to independent contractors to enforce polices, warn of potential safety hazards and to prevent hazardous conditions that ultimately lead to acceptable CSA BASICs Advises senior management for corrective and preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure action has been taken Maintains safety files and records Skills Required Strong analytical skills Leadership skills Ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations Ability to solve problems and think quickly under pressure Effective oral and written communication skills Process improvement catalyst Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy Proficiency in web-based programs Proficient use of Microsoft products Ability to deal effectively with various departments and levels of personnel within the company and within the Company Driver and Owner-Operator base Ability to schedule assignments and maximize work performance of existing personnel Ability to multi-task several projects or assignments at the same time Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations Qualifications Prior Safety supervisory experience of at least 5 years Knowledge and experience with transportation industry in safety and accident response duties Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university CSS or CDS preferred
