Safety Director Geiger Ready-Mix Kansas City, KS Job Details From $90,000 a year 4 hours ago Qualifications Vendor relationship building Full Job Description Key Responsibilities Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure company-wide compliance with OSHA, DOT, and applicable safety and environmental regulations. Act as the primary point of contact during OSHA inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries. Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to policies, procedures, and training programs. Safety Program Leadership Develop, maintain, and continuously improve a comprehensive written safety program. Oversee programs related to PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, emergency response, hazardous materials, and equipment safety. Conduct regular program reviews and audits to ensure effectiveness and consistency. Training & Safety Culture Design and execute or oversee ongoing safety training and continuing education programs. Partner with plant managers and supervisors on leading effective local safety efforts and provide consistent perspective and leadership for safety committees and other ad hoc groups tasked with improving Geiger's safety culture. Promote safety as a daily operational priority through regular huddles, communication, and engagement with leaders and team members. Champion defensive driving and transportation safety initiatives. Incident Management Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis. Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting. Work with leaders to implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce repeat incidents. Track incident trends and report findings to leadership. Environmental & External Coordination Ensure compliance with air and water quality regulations. Manage relationships with external safety and environmental consultants and vendors. Leadership & Reporting Provide regular safety performance updates to senior leadership. Use data and metrics to drive continuous improvement and accountability. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on safety risk and mitigation strategies.
