Spicin Foods is a world-class sauce manufacturer. Our Manager, Food Safety & Compliance, is a hands-on leader who ensures product safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and with company standards. A key partner to drive continuous improvement efforts in Operations for product quality, performance and process optimization by training and finding solutions.
Position Responsibilities Food Safety:
Review production activities to ensure all Food Safety requirements are met. Review and approve documentation related to quality systems, testing, and production activities. Ensure products comply with regulatory, customer, and Company standards while maintaining adherence to GMPs and established SOPs. Partner with Operations to manage certification programs, including BRC, FSMA, Kosher, Organic, Gluten-Free, and Non-GMO. Evaluate audit and quality findings, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely closure. Partner with Quality Control to assess raw material quality and risk and evaluate the safety, quality, and consistency of finished products. Collaborate with Operations on process improvements, cost and waste reduction initiatives. Maintain sanitation, quality, safety, and waste management standards within food processing areas. Conduct supplier audits and raw material risk assessments as required.
Food Safety & Corrective Actions:
Identify and communicate food safety and quality concerns and implement appropriate corrective actions. Train and support plant team members regarding deficiencies, corrective actions, GMPs, and food safety requirements. Verify compliance with receiving storage, handling, processing, and product release policies and procedures. Investigate customer complaints and product returns, determine potential root causes, and coordinate appropriate follow-up actions. Perform or coordinate microbiological analysis when required. Manage the Hold and Release Program and ensure appropriate disposition of any product that does not meet established specifications or food safety requirements.
Leadership:
Hire, train, develop, and motivate team members to achieve food safety, quality, production, and operational objectives. Assign responsibilities, provide clear directions, and ensure team members are properly trained in the required processes and procedures. Guide the team in meeting daily quality and productivity expectations while maintaining accountability. Foster a collaborative culture that encourages teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Recognize individual contributions and provide clear, constructive feedback through regular coaching, one-on-one development, and performance management. All other duties as assigned Candidate Overview The successful candidate will possess: Bachelor's' Degree (BA or BS) in Food Science or Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or Microbiology or equivalent. 2 years experience as a Food Safety leader, with working knowledge of BRC, FSMA, Kosher, Organic, Gluten Free and Non-GMO. PCQI certification, HACCP, Process Authority preferred. Experience in food science, compliance and continuous improvements. Experience with ERP systems as it applies to manufacturing.
Physical demands:
This position requires the ability to be constantly moving throughout the office and gift store which includes but not limited to walking, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least 8 hours a day. May occasionally involve bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and climbing. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following abilities:

Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to speak, read, and write the English language. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear and frequently required to use hands to handle materials or equipment and reach with hands and arms. The position also requires the ability to stand and walk throughout office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work extended shifts or weekends based on production and business needs.
