Position Summary:
The Safety/HR Manager will assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures, organize team meetings, solve safety issues, coordinate audits and inspections, track corrective actions and incident data, review important safety documents, and many other duties that require a high degree of attention to detail. This will all be done within the confines of Kort's Construction Services' goals and vision. As a Human Resources Manager they will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Identify hazardous workplace conditions Take samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinate the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards Train employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations Ensure necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Participate in inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Collaborate across business units and build consistency in safety practices and procedures on all project efforts—policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to as well as protecting the company's interests. Aspire to achieve a zero injury culture through the implementation and interpretation of the safety program Participate in safety meetings and training sessions, and ensuring required safety training for craft is completed; review safety related topics with craft to keep employee abreast of current changes/improvements to program; participate in conducting craft safety orientation as part of new hire orientationSupervisory Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff. Oversees the daily workflow of Human Resources & Safety department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy and state law.Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
Requires the mobility to perform vehicle operating duties. The Safety Administrator at times will have a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. The Safety Administrator at times will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.Special Position Requirements:
Effective communication with crew members, Foreman, management team and office staff Excellent problem solving ability Ability to multi-task Ensuring crew compliance with project policies, procedures and company policies Assist with training upcoming laborers, pipe layers and operators Recognizing, addressing and resolving issues that arise on site Provide coaching and encouragement to crew membersRequired Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations' HRIS and talent management systems.Success Factors/Job Advancements:
