MD/DO NASA Stennis Space Center Location:
Stennis Space Center, Mississippi Compensation:
$190-$220 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Schedule:
Part-time / hybrid | Regular onsite presence with some responsibilities performed remotely

October 2026 A rare opportunity to bring your medical expertise to one of the most extraordinary workplaces in the country. Heart-Centered Health is seeking an experienced MD or DO to serve as Occupational Health Medical Director supporting the workforce at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi. Stennis is America's largest rocket-propulsion test site and has helped power the nation's human spaceflight program from Apollo and the Space Shuttle to today's Artemis missions. It is also a unique federal and technology community where thousands of engineers, scientists, technicians, researchers, federal professionals, and aerospace and defense personnel work every day. As Medical Director, you will provide physician leadership for the occupational-health program supporting this highly skilled workforce. This is not a traditional full-time primary-care position or high-volume patient-panel role . It is an opportunity for an experienced physician to apply occupational-medicine expertise in a fascinating, mission-driven environment while working alongside an established onsite clinical team. The Role You will serve as the physician medical authority for an established occupational-health clinic and work collaboratively with a team that includes two nurse practitioners, a registered nurse, radiology/laboratory support, and administrative professionals .
Responsibilities include:
Providing medical direction and clinical oversight for the occupational-health program Serving as the final medical technical authority on occupational-health matters Supporting and collaborating with nurse practitioners and other clinical professionals Overseeing provider credentialing and privileging Providing guidance on fitness-for-duty and medical-qualification determinations Supporting occupational-health policies, protocols, and quality of care Providing medical oversight for immunization and medication programs Supporting infection-control and bloodborne-pathogen programs Providing medical leadership related to emergency preparedness and AED programs Ensuring applicable OSHA, CDC, federal, state, and occupational-health standards are met Remaining available for timely clinical consultation between onsite periods The physician will maintain a regular onsite presence at Stennis Space Center , while certain Medical Director responsibilities may be performed remotely as appropriate to the program. Who We're Looking For This opportunity could be an exceptional fit for an experienced physician who enjoys occupational medicine, medical leadership, complex organizations, aerospace or industrial environments, or mission-driven federal work and would value an ongoing Medical Director role outside of a conventional full-time clinical practice. Physicians with backgrounds in occupational medicine, preventive medicine, aerospace medicine, employee health, industrial medicine, or other specialties with meaningful occupational-health experience are encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Active Mississippi medical license Current board certification through an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) member board Occupational medicine / occupational-health experience Ability to provide recurring onsite Medical Director services at Stennis Space Center Board certification does not need to be specifically in Occupational Medicine; qualified physicians from other ABMS-certified specialties with appropriate occupational-health experience are encouraged to apply.
