Safety Manger - Petroleum Industry Come work for a growing petroleum carrier, we operate across several states, making deliveries in DE, DC, MD, NC and VA. Our drivers are home daily and work local. The ideal candidate would live in any of the States listed and be willing to travel as needed to any of our locations. We offer competitive pay, company vehicle, and an excellent benefit package. This position is responsible for the safety training of the people in the organization. The Safety Manager works across all areas and groups in the organization. Job Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• On call 24/7 : for accident & incident response.

Developing and Implementing Safety Policies :

The safety manager is responsible for developing comprehensive safety policies and procedures that comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices. These policies should cover areas such as driver training, vehicle maintenance, accident reporting, and emergency response.

Training and Education :

The safety manager should coordinate and conduct regular safety training programs for drivers and other employees. This training should cover topics such as defensive driving techniques, hazardous materials handling, and accident prevention.

Monitoring Compliance :

The safety manager must ensure that drivers and other employees comply with safety regulations and company policies. This may involve conducting audits, inspections, and reviews to identify areas of non-compliance and take corrective actions. Geotab reports, cameras, HOS, etc. take necessary action when compliance not being met and create a solution to ensure we are working towards compliance.

Accident Investigation and Reporting :

In the event of an accident or safety incident, the safety manager is responsible for leading the investigation to determine the root cause and prevent future occurrences. They must also ensure that accurate and timely incident reports are filed with the appropriate authorities.

Emergency Response Planning :

Developing and implementing emergency response plans for accidents, hazardous material spills, and other safety incidents is a critical responsibility of the safety manager. They should ensure that employees are trained on these plans and conduct regular drills to test their effectiveness.

Risk Management :

Identifying and assessing potential safety risks within the organization is another key task for the safety manager. They should develop strategies to mitigate these risks and create a culture of safety awareness among employees.

Telematics :

Your fleet safety manager must be familiar with telematics and know how to use the data to boost your fleet's safety. Telematics can track behavior like hard cornering, harsh braking, and speeding. Fleet safety managers can generate reports to track these behaviors and correct them with training.

Regulatory Compliance :

Staying up to date on federal, state, and local safety regulations that apply to the trucking industry is essential. The safety manager should ensure that the company follows all relevant laws and regulations.

• Driver check rides : sign off on new hire drivers by doing a ride along for loading, operating, and unloading. Ride with current drivers to help promote safety, adherence to company policies and procedures. Corrective actions.
• Be Seen ; be present with the drivers at the various shift changes to communicate safety, compliance, and a safety mindset.

Qualifications:

Required High school diploma required. Degree preferred. Minimum four (4) years supervisory experience in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in driver compliance. DOT, Hazmat experience. Knowledge of

DOT/FMCSA

processes (PSP). Proficient PC skills (Word and Excel). Ability to communicate in English at an intermediate-advanced level (orally and in writing) Ability to read and write alpha and numeric in English. Legible handwriting. Interpersonal skills, customer service.

Organized individual:

ability to prioritize. Ability to function and perform effectively as a Manager and Supervisor. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled employees engaged in administrative functions and driving for the company. Ability to coordinate programs, prepare reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to work independently, extended hours, weekends and holidays as needed. Preferred

• CDL holder current or previous Gas Hauling Experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is continuously required to walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to bend, sit and stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee must continuously use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to think logically. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, truck drivers and fellow employees.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Report safety hazards. Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage. Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules. Refuse any unsafe task or operation. Participate in safety meetings and training. Be constantly aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direct supervision from the Director of Safety & the Vice President.
