Job Description

Responsibilities Safety Policy Development :
Create and implement comprehensive safety protocols, including accident prevention measures and driver handbooks.
Regulatory Compliance :
Maintain 100% compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations, including managing Driver Qualification (DQ) files and Hours of Service (HOS) logs.
Driver Training & Coaching :
Conduct initial orientations and ongoing safety meetings. Use telematics data to coach drivers on behaviors like speeding or harsh braking.
Incident Management :
Lead investigations for all vehicle accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Safety Audits :
Perform regular terminal, facility, and field audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety programs.
Maintenance Oversight :
Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all vehicles undergo required inspections (e.g., CVIPs) and preventative maintenance.
Key Skills & Qualifications Regulatory Knowledge :
Deep understanding of
FMCSA , DOT
, and OSHA standards is essential.
Technical Proficiency :
Experience with Telematics (e.g., Geotab, Samsara), Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) , and Fleet Management Software (FMS).
Experience :
Typically requires 3-5+ years in transportation safety or logistics management.
Education :
A bachelor's degree in Safety Management , Logistics , or a related field is often preferred.
Certifications :
Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS) are highly beneficial.
Leadership :
Strong communication skills to influence safety culture across all levels of the organization.
