About the role We are looking for a Head of Risk & Compliance to lead our Safety, Risk & Compliance function. This person will be responsible for ensuring our operations are fully compliant with U.S. trucking and traffic regulations, while also building and scaling robust risk management processes. This is a strategic role with high business impact, ensuring operational safety, risk mitigation, and regulatory excellence at scale. Responsibilities Estrategy & Leadership Lead the Risk & Compliance team, defining strategy, structure, and priorities Build and scale Risk & Compliance processes, policies, and governance Develop and track key metrics (KPIs/KRIs) for the area Manage and develop the team, ensuring high performance Regulatory Compliance (US Trucking) Ensure compliance with U.S. transportation regulations (DOT, FMCSA, among others) Act as the main point of contact for regulatory matters and external stakeholders Ensure readiness for audits and regulatory inspections Implement and maintain up-to-date compliance policies and controls Safety & Operations Ensure customers and operations follow safety and traffic regulations Drive incident prevention and promote best practices in safety Monitor safety metrics and continuously improve performance Partner closely with Operations to ensure safe and efficient execution Risk Management Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, regulatory, and reputational risks Develop risk management frameworks and processes Support business decision-making with a risk-based perspective Implement internal controls and mitigation plans Audit & Incidents Lead internal and external audits Manage critical incidents, including investigation and action plans Ensure proper documentation, root cause analysis, and implementation of improvements Establish crisis management processes when needed Culture & Influence Foster a strong culture of safety and compliance across the organization Influence stakeholders across different levels and functions Partner closely with Internal Operations Ensure Risk & Compliance acts as a business enabler, not a blocker
Requisitos:
Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Engineering, or a related field Solid experience in Risk, Compliance, Safety, or Operations Experience with trucking operations Knowledge of U.S. transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA) Previous experience in a leadership role Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making Experience managing operational risks in fast-paced environments Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Experience in startups or high-growth companies Experience with safety monitoring and telematics tools Certifications in Risk, Compliance, or Safety are a plus Managed fleets 200+ trucks Been through FMCSA audits Dealt with insurance carriers Built safety programs from scratch Benefícios Health Insurance Paid vacation Paid Holidays Parental leave Wedding leave Monthly meal allowance Annual bonus based on both company and individual performance Eligibility to the LTIP (Long Term Incentive Plan)Similar jobs in Raleigh, NC
