Job Description

Our client is a leading manufacturing company that is looking to bring on board a hands on, safety oriented Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for their facility in the Long Island, NY area. In this exciting position, you will take a lead role in the overall management of implementing, maintaining and updating EHS standards and programs. This is a great opportunity to be a key stakeholder in a growing company that invests in its employees. What we are looking for you to do: Lead training development initiatives to educate employees on safety practices, emergency response procedures, and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to environmental health and safety. Perform audits and monitor the effectiveness of H&S programs and standards to prevent serious injuries, fatalities, environmental incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance. Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety policies and procedures. Promote environmental sustainability at the plant and partner with the corporate environmental team to collect data and drive improvements. Identify potential hazards in the workplace and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks. Implement training programs for all employees, contractors and visitors in worksite safety practices; a focus on environmental permits, licenses, and requirements (e.g. wastewater, stormwater etc.). Manage the application of EHS standards, compliance with regulations, and the promotion of a safe working environment. Reinforce a safety-first culture by improving prevention of serious injuries, and environmental incidents. Track all injuries, illnesses, near miss events, environmental incidents, environmental noncompliance and investigate incidents, and aid in determining and implementing prevention methods to avoid recurrence. Ensuring compliance with applicable EHS regulations. Manage the execution of response plans in the event of an environmental emergency, natural disaster, injury, fire, or other adverse events. Serve as liaison with insurance company inspectors; coordinate responses to recommendations. Ensure fire protection and security systems are properly managed to protect property from loss.
The ideal candidate will have:
5+ years of EHS management experience required. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field. 3+ years food, beverage or CPG manufacturing experience required.

Pay:
$110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
