About the role:
The Safety Superintendent develops and implements Safety, Health, Security and Emergency Response systems for the Ashtabula Complex by analyzing trends/needs, advising, guiding and leading the line organization and developing plans for procedure implementation, training (including drills and skill development exercises), behavior awareness and corrective action for at-risk behavior and identifying and correcting physical hazards that will lead to improved safety performance. This is a salaried, exempt, day shift position. It is designated as a Safety Critical role. Key job responsibilities include : Champion for the INEOS Pigments' 20 Safety Principles - Process and Behavioral Safety and Life Saving Rules. Lead and enforce safety procedures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with occupational safety standards. Ensure robust safe work systems are in place, and hazard assessments are performed (both process and Behavioral). Assure compliance with legal and other requirements. Help to oversee root cause analysis and corrective actions for incidents. Complete all computer-based safety training. Attend scheduled safety meetings. Develop and Implement Safety, Health, Security and Emergency Response Systems to improve Safety and Health compliance and performance. Works with all INEOS employees and external contractors to ensure adequate support and consultation to maintain Safety, Health, Security and Emergency Response Systems. Manages and coordinates ensuring successful completion of all regulatory and company required Safety, Health, Security and Emergency Response training for all internal INEOS employees and all outside resident & non-resident contractors. Develops and ensures completion of all skill development exercises and drills surrounding the Emergency Response Plan. Coordinates and ensures completion of all requirements for Fire Protection Equipment, Breathing Air Systems and Emergency Response Equipment. Other duties as assigned.
You should possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Health, Environmental or related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of safety leadership experience in manufacturing is required. Exposure to safety leadership in chemical manufacturing environment preferred. Extensive knowledge of safety compliance regulations (Federal, State and Local), industrial hygiene (qualitative and quantitative), case management, industrial medical practice (regular and emergency), hazardous materials evaluation/control, workers compensation, emergency response, ergonomics, process safety management and job/task analysis. Ability to identify the need for and develop and implement Safety, Health and Emergency Response procedures and policies. Ability to track and analyze data, summarize, create visuals and present to all levels of the organization. Knowledge of technical aspects of personal protective equipment such as breakthrough of chemical protective clothing, respirator cartridges, gloves, supplied air, etc. Ability to perform demanding physical tasks, climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs, and work in hot and/or dusty environments. Willing to be "on-call" and work non-standard hours .
