We are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to uphold our high safety standards, drive compliance initiatives, and support a culture of accountability on and off the road. Job Summary The Safety & Compliance Manager ensures that all aspects of our operations comply with FMCSA, DOT, and internal company policies. This role oversees driver qualification, training, safety audits, hours of service monitoring, and accident investigation for our OTR and regional trucking fleet. You will also work closely with dispatch, HR, and maintenance to reinforce safe operating practices and maintain strong CSA scores. Key Responsibilities Oversee all FMCSA and DOT compliance programs for OTR and regional fleet operations. Manage driver qualification files , ensuring valid CDL, medical cards, MVRs, drug/alcohol tests, and background checks. Conduct onboarding and safety orientation for new drivers, including logbook, ELD, HOS, and pre-trip inspection training. Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) , ELD compliance, and manage corrective action for violations. Administer random drug/alcohol screenings and maintain compliance with the Clearinghouse and consortium requirements. Lead internal audits and roadside inspection reviews , address violations or citations with coaching or retraining. Investigate accidents and incidents , compile reports, and follow up with corrective measures or claims support. Manage the company's Safety Score (CSA) , proactively addressing trends in inspections, violations, and citations. Work with dispatch and fleet managers to address driver performance issues and ensure consistent enforcement of safety standards. Maintain records of all safety, compliance, and training documentation. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of safety/compliance experience in OTR or regional trucking. Strong working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, CSA, HOS, and ELD regulations . Experience using TMS, fleet tracking, and driver compliance software (e.g., Samsara & Mcleod). Strong organizational and communication skills; able to lead training and collaborate across departments. CDL-A preferred but not required. Experience handling accident investigation and claims coordination is a plus. Schedule & Work Environment Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts. On-site with occasional field work (yard audits, ride-alongs, etc.). Some weekend/after-hours availability required in case of incidents or audits. This position requires a proactive approach to fleet management while maintaining a focus on safety, compliance, and efficiency. The Fleet Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's operational goals through effective vehicle management strategies.
