Must-Haves High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience 4-6 years of experience in occupational safety and health management or related field Strong knowledge of accident prevention strategies and behavior-based safety principles Experience with DOT and FMCSA compliance , including driver files, HOS, CSA, and inspections Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments , facility audits, and safety investigations Proficiency in OSHA compliance and workplace safety regulations Experience managing Workers' Compensation claims from first report through closure Ability to create and deliver engaging safety training for diverse audiences Strong analytical skills with experience tracking safety KPIs (TRIR, DART, preventable accidents)
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Environmental Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field 6-10 years of safety management experience in the foodservice or distribution industry Transportation/distribution industry safety experience Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ARM (Associate in Risk Management) , or related credentials Why This Role Matters As Safety Manager, you will be the driving force behind a prevention-focused safety culture that protects associates, strengthens operations, and keeps the supply chain moving. You'll collaborate with leaders across Transportation, Warehouse Operations, and HR to build programs that stop incidents before they happen and create lasting impact. What You'll Accomplish Prevent Accidents & Build a Safety-First Culture Develop and execute comprehensive accident prevention strategies centered on behavior-based safety Conduct facility observations, ride-alongs, risk analyses, and proactive safety walks Lead accident review committees and implement corrective action plans that drive results Champion near-miss reporting, recognition programs, and safety engagement initiatives Serve as the subject matter expert during critical incidents Ensure Transportation & CDL Compliance Maintain full compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations , including driver qualification files, hours of service, and roadside inspections Coach CDL drivers on safe driving behaviors and regulatory compliance Investigate vehicle incidents and develop targeted prevention strategies Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs (post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion) Leverage telematics and dashcam data to identify and reduce risk Protect Warehouse & Facility Operations Ensure OSHA compliance across all operating locations Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), audits, and comprehensive safety inspections Support safe food distribution practices, including cold-chain integrity and dock safety protocols Drive Risk Management & Continuous Improvement Manage the full Workers' Compensation process from injury report through claim closure Lead thorough investigations for all injuries, incidents, and near-misses Partner with stakeholders to control claim costs and improve associate outcomes Administer return-to-work and modified-duty programs Track and report critical safety metrics:
TRIR, DART
