Job Description

Safety Manager Location:
Portland, OR Salary Range:
$155,000•185,000 (DOE) A well-established Heavy Civil general contractor is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support and lead safety efforts across multiple infrastructure and civil construction projects in the Portland metro area. This individual will play a key role in reinforcing a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards. Experience Required 7+ years of construction safety experience, with a strong preference for heavy civil, infrastructure, earthwork, utilities, or transportation projects Proven experience overseeing safety programs on active construction sites Hands-on experience conducting jobsite safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations Experience working directly with field crews, superintendents, and project management teams Demonstrated success implementing and enforcing site-specific safety plans and JSAs/JHAs Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects and traveling between jobsites as needed Qualifications Needed Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500, CHST, CSP, ASP, or similar certifications strongly preferred Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations (including Oregon OSHA) and industry best practices Ability to lead safety training, toolbox talks, and new-hire orientations Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence field personnel and leadership Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation Benefits Included Competitive base salary with strong long-term earning potential Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and paid holidays Vehicle allowance or company vehicle and fuel card Long-term career growth with a stable, well-capitalized contractor Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on company-wide safety culture This role offers the opportunity to be part of a respected contractor with a strong project backlog and a commitment to safety at every level of the organization.
