Job Description
Walsh Trucking is a 65 year old Family Operated Trucking Company and the leader of wood residuals and solid waste transportation in the Pacific Northwest. Due to an internal transfer we are hiring for a Safety/Training Supervisor to provide training, development and oversight for our Willamina Division. Job Summary The Safety/Training Supervisor is responsible for providing training and development to ensure that our Willamina Division (Which includes: Willamina, Newberg, Forest Grove, Wilsonville, Salem and Albany) drivers are operating in the most safe and efficient manner possible. Responsibilities Observes driver safety on the road and at the mills, transfer stations, and landfills. Works with drivers and customers to ensure safe environment. Performs evaluations and corrective actions for new drivers or drivers that need additional training. Assists in the assessment, development and evaluation of the driver training program and implements training program. Oversees new driver training, Smith System training. Oversees driver trainers, trainees, student driver trainees and student driving program. Ensures compliance with company policies, DOT, OSHA and other required agencies. Assists in accident and injury investigation as requested. Coordinates activities with Safety/Training Manager Ensures all driver paperwork is accurate and assists drivers when corrections are needed. Develops and monitors light duty programs for injured drivers when needed. Coordinates Willamina Division Safety Meetings. Assists with planning hiring events for the company. Assists with planning and communicating event schedule and manning. Assists with finding event sites, coordinates recruiting trailer movement, advertising and event staffing. Performs dispatcher/driver relationship communication training. Reports activities and results via weekly recap to Chairman, President, and Safety/Training Manager and others as directed. Qualifications Proven experience in training in the Transportation/Trucking Industry Familiarity with workers' compensation processes Strong knowledge of safety protocols in Trucking Industry Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Ability to learn in-house software. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals. Self-directed with good planning & organization skills to use time efficiently. Experience/Education Minimum of 5 years experience in the Trucking Industry with training experience. Safety experience is highly desirable. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
