Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Safety Supervisor to provide HSE leadership and field support for a Life Sciences construction project in Southeast Pennsylvania. This position will partner with project and construction management, HSE leadership, clients, and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, and support safe project execution. The role requires a strong field presence, effective leadership, and the ability to build relationships across multi-contractor construction teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide HSE leadership, technical guidance, and visible field support to project teams, construction management, and subcontractors. Implement and enforce company, client, and project-specific HSE programs, policies, and procedures. Support field-based HSE personnel and provide safety direction to Project Managers, Construction Managers, supervisors, and craft teams. Conduct safety observations, assessments, compliance reviews, and field inspections across multi-trade construction activities. Review subcontractor hazard assessments, safety plans, and other HSE deliverables. Lead or support incident notification, investigation, reporting, injury management, and return-to-work activities. Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, JHAs, coaching, and regulatory guidance to project personnel. Assist in developing project-specific HSE plans and participate in operational readiness reviews. Maintain required HSE documentation, records, and reporting for company and regulatory compliance. Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, project teams, and HSE leadership to drive continuous safety improvement. Support a proactive safety culture focused on preventing injuries and minimizing impacts to client operations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in HSE/EHS, Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant construction experience. 5-10 years of construction industry experience, including HSE/EHS support on active construction projects and/or construction trade leadership experience with responsibility for safety oversight. Experience supporting and enforcing safe work practices for self-perform and subcontractor crews. At least one of the following certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction, OSHA 510, CHST, or CSP. Experience delivering safety training, toolbox talks, JHAs, and employee coaching in a field construction environment. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Experience implementing company and client safety programs at the project level. Experience conducting safety observations, assessments, and compliance reviews across multi-trade workforces. Strong documentation, reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional HSE/EHS certification and/or degree in safety, engineering, or a related discipline. Experience supporting construction projects in regulated or mission-critical environments. Experience collaborating with clients, design teams, and construction management to integrate safety into project execution. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and promote a consistent safety culture across multi-contractor project teams.
