Job Description

Zeigler Bros., Inc. is a respected and growing manufacturer of specialty animal feeds serving the aquaculture, pet, and biomedical research industries worldwide. With continued growth across our operations, we are seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager to lead and strengthen our quality and food safety programs across multiple facilities. This is a high-impact leadership role for a hands-on professional who thrives in a manufacturing environment, values collaboration, and is passionate about producing safe, high-quality products that meet rigorous regulatory and customer standards. Position Overview Reporting to the Director of Nutrition & Quality , the FSQA Manager provides technical leadership, strategic direction, and daily support to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance team and technicians across all facilities. You will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust food safety and quality systems while serving as a key point of contact for customers, auditors, and regulatory agencies. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a multi-shift FSQA team across multiple manufacturing facilities Develop, implement, and continuously improve FSQA policies, programs, and procedures Ensure compliance with all applicable food and feed regulations and company standards Establish and maintain controls to ensure the production of safe, consistent, high-quality products Serve as the primary quality contact for customers, including audits, complaints, pilot runs, new product launches, and specification changes Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and profitability Partner cross-functionally with operations, R&D, and leadership to support business growth Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline (required) Minimum of 5 years of experience in a feed or food processing environment Strong preference for experience in dry animal or pet food manufacturing At least 5 years of management experience leading a multi-shift FSQA department Deep understanding of analytical chemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology as applied to food/feed systems Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements, including FSMA, FDA, USDA-FSIS, and APHIS Skills & Attributes Proven leader with the ability to inspire, develop, and hold teams accountable Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to prioritize complex initiatives and work independently Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders Comfortable interacting directly with customers and regulatory agencies Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Work Environment & Physical Requirements This role is based in a manufacturing environment and requires the ability to: Work around dust, noise, heat, and cold Safely operate in areas with industrial machinery while following PPE and safety protocols Walk, stand, climb, and reach on a continuous basis Pass a job-related pre-employment physical and drug screening
