Job Description

Strategic Safety Executive - Power/Industrial Construction (SE USA) A rapidly growing, mid-size, union contractor performing industrial and power production maintenance and new construction — with a growing backlog of data center projects — seeks a strategic, culture-building Safety Executive. This privately-owned construction organization is looking for a strategic leader who can build a strong safety culture that supports operational goals, working through well-trained local Safety and Project Management teams operating on a shared, consensus-driven standard of best practices. This is a strategy-setting position requiring residency near the Birmingham, AL headquarters, with responsibility for developing project safety management practices and approximately 25% travel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years building corporate safety culture in support of power/industrial construction operations at a strategic level, including implementation through local safety management. Demonstrably clear understanding of best mechanical and electrical construction safety practices in fossil power production maintenance and new construction. A track record of strategic planning, including building safety team strength and developing close operational and client relationships. Senior professional safety certifications and academic credentials that demonstrate technical expertise in best safety practices and reflect well on a growing regional construction organization presenting its expertise to an expanding client base. Current safety practice experience with Southeastern U.S. power production operations, maintenance, and new construction.
PREFERRED
Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency. Experience developing safety strategy for data center projects, with an emphasis on electrical work. This opportunity is offered by a well-established construction organization, for a leader who will develop and present safety strategy to fellow executives — establishing a safety culture that guides safe project execution by building out local safety and project management functions for a $200MM+ organization of 1,000 employees that rewards teamwork and success.
COMPENSATION
Target base compensation is $185K. The employer values fairness and mutual incentive in compensation, and believes this role could be well-suited to either a Senior Manager or an established Executive, depending on match — final offer will be determined after interview. A bonus opportunity is available to align compensation with performance. This is a fully benefited position with a relocation assistance package available.
