Job Description
Come Join an Inclusive Team The HSES & Training Manager position is responsible for the direction of the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, Security, Process Safety and Training programs and policies for three (3) high density polyethylene (HDPE) chemical manufacturing sites located in Chocolate Bayou (near Alvin, TX), Matagorda (near Bay City, TX) and Victoria, TX. This position is also responsible for compliance with health, safety, environmental and security regulations: local, state and federal. This position is assigned to primarily work out of the Matagorda site, however they will also make day trips on a regular basis to our Chocolate Bayou and Victoria sites for staff meetings, audits and involvement in other HSES and Training activities as needed. This position provides guidance, direction and coaching to HSES and Training professionals at these three locations. The individual serving in this capacity will act as the interface with HSES regulatory agencies for all three sites. A Day in the Life Leads the HSES and Training function to ensure continuous improvement of the HSES and Training programs and performance for all three locations. Establishes and maintains Key Performance Indicators used to measure each site's HSES performance. Ensures the HSES programs and practices are consistent with LyondellBasell's Operational Excellence Standards and in compliance with local, state and federal requirements. Develops and recommends business driven and cost effective HSES and Training strategies for each location. Proactively develops and deploys HSES programs to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses, and prevent harm to the environment. Acts as the champion to ensure proper investigation and follow-up is taken on safety concerns, near misses and incidents. Addresses all internal and external customer inquiries and reporting requirements regarding health, safety, environmental, security and training matters. Facilitates employee involvement, awareness and continuous improvement in all LyondellBasell Process Safety programs. Builds relationships and maintains on-going communications with plant staff and manufacturing personnel to develop and maintain a collaborative work environment across all three locations. Manages organizational aspects of the Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Training function to develop staff of fourteen (14) employees with expertise and knowledge. In addition, the position is responsible for coordinating the activities of a small number of contractors (Security, LDAR and Fire Protection). You Bring This Value B.S. degree in engineering, relevant sciences or specific HSES discipline required. Minimum of 8+ years of relevant HSES and leadership experience working in the chemical or equivalent industry. Prior supervisory experience. Working knowledge of the regulatory processes applicable to a plant operation. Experience representing a company to the regulatory agencies. Candidate must have strong leadership skills including effective communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all departments and levels of the organization.
