Job Description Key Responsibilities Enterprise EHS & Process Safety Governance Serve as the corporate authority for Environmental, Health, Safety, and Process Safety Management. Establish enterprise‑wide governance, standards, and escalation pathways for high‑hazard and process safety risks. Chair or sponsor enterprise EHS and Process Safety steering committees. Provide regular briefings to executive leadership on EHS and process safety risk exposure, performance trends, and emerging risks. Exercise authority to stop work or shut down processes for unsafe, non‑compliant, or high‑risk conditions. EHS & Process Safety Management Systems (ISO & PSM) Own the design, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise management systems aligned with:
ISO 14001
- Environmental Management Systems
ISO 45001
- Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems OSHA Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119), where applicable Establish standardized enterprise processes for: Hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA/JHA) Process hazard analysis (PHA), including HAZOP, What‑If, and FMEA methodologies Management of Change (MOC) Operating procedures and safe work practices Incident investigation, root cause analysis, and learning systems Ensure certification readiness, internal audit rigor, and consistent site execution within enterprise frameworks. Process Safety Leadership (PSM & HAZOP) Provide strategic oversight of Process Safety Management programs for chemical and high‑risk operations. Ensure effective governance of critical PSM elements, including: Process hazard analysis (PHA) and HAZOP facilitation or oversight Mechanical integrity and asset reliability Process safety training and competency Emergency planning and response for major hazard scenarios Influence early‑stage capital project design, equipment selection, and process changes to eliminate or reduce process safety risk. Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure PSM requirements are integrated into: New processes, tools, and automation Advanced chemical delivery systems Highly automated and complex manufacturing equipment Environmental Risk Management & Sustainability Lead enterprise environmental programs, including: Chemical lifecycle management (storage, use, disposal) Hazardous and universal waste management Air permitting and emissions control (VOCs, acids, solvents) Wastewater compliance, pretreatment, and water stewardship Emergency response, spill prevention (SPCC), and contingency planning Establish environmental performance metrics and support ESG reporting, customer audits, and sustainability initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and environmental risk mitigation. Health & Safety Leadership - High Hazard & Technical Environments Provide strategic oversight for safety programs in complex manufacturing environments, including: Industrial hygiene and exposure monitoring Chemical hazard communication (GHS) Contractor safety governance Cleanroom safety, ergonomic risk, and precision work hazards Specialized PPE and engineered controls Demonstrate leadership credibility in highly technical and automated operations, even when not the direct subject matter expert. Capital Planning, M&A, and Business Enablement Influence capital planning, facility design, and process engineering to ensure EHS and process safety hazards are addressed upstream. Support mergers, acquisitions, site expansions, and greenfield projects through: EHS and process safety due diligence Integration planning Startup and operational readiness reviews Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership during strategic growth decisions. Metrics, Auditing & Performance Management Establish and manage enterprise KPIs, including: TRIR, DART, and severity rates Near‑miss and process safety event reporting Environmental incidents and permit deviations
PHA/HAZOP
completion and action closure rates Audit findings and corrective action effectiveness Lead enterprise EHS and PSM audits and ensure timely, effective closure of findings. Use data and trend analysis to drive proactive risk reduction and continuous improvement. Qualifications Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or related field. 8-12+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience in chemical, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing environments. Demonstrated leadership of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs. Experience with
PHA / HAZOP
oversight or facilitation. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable environmental and safety regulations. Proven ability to influence executive leaders and operational decision‑makers. Preferred Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent. Direct experience with ISO 14001 and
ISO 45001
certification. Multi‑site or global manufacturing oversight. Experience supporting customer EHS audits and ESG reporting. M&A, greenfield startup, or high‑hazard process implementation experience.
