Job Description

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Campus Security and Safety reports to Executive Director of Operations. This role is critical for ensuring the protection and well-being of students, faculty, and staff by developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety plans and emergency procedures. The Director assesses potential hazards, conducts risk evaluations, and coordinates with law enforcement and emergency responders to prepare for and address any incidents that may occur. Additionally, the Director is the lead SRO (School Resource Officer) for the school and is responsible for training school personnel in safety protocols, managing safety equipment, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a visible, professional presence on campus to deter criminal activity and promote a sense of safety and security for all students, staff, and visitors. Respond swiftly and effectively to all security incidents, emergencies (including medical emergencies), and crisis situations on campus, acting as the primary first responder and liaison to external emergency personnel. Enforce all applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. Develops and maintains comprehensive emergency operations plan, covering natural disasters, active threats, and medical emergencies. Oversee daily operations of security technology, including surveillance cameras, access control, emergency notification applications, and visitor management systems. Designs and delivers safety training for faculty, staff, and students, including active shooter, de-escalation techniques, and emergency drill management. Monitor school grounds and surrounding areas for suspicious activity, including safety walk-throughs of buildings, fields, playgrounds, and parking areas.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School. Willing to enroll eligible children at Southside Christian School Must be able to articulate a deep understanding of a biblically informed worldview by integrating Biblical truth into daily work. Must be a certified law enforcement officer, requiring a minimum of 3-5 years' experience. Completion of specialized SRO training, such as the NASRO (National Association of School Resource Officers basic SRO course or equivalent state mandated training is required. Emergency training specializing in school security scenarios. Behavioral Threat Assessment experience and knowledge. School lawemergency plaining knowledge.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, patrol campus effectively, visually monitor the campus, and respond physically to emergency situations.
