Job Description

Description:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and manage the EHS programs at our metal powder manufacturing and blending facility. This hands-on role will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive EHS strategy to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for those experienced in powder metallurgy, chemical processing, or metalworking industries. Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations (EPA, state DEQs, etc.). Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal. Maintain and file environmental permits, reports, and documentation (e.g., stormwater, air emissions, SPCC). Perform routine audits and inspections of environmental practices and control measures, and communicate the findings to leadership. Health and Safety Leadership Oversee OSHA compliance across all production and blending operations. Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space, PPE, hazard communication). Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; recommend corrective actions and track resolutions. Champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce safety risks and improve work practices. Manage internal first responder team. Manage relationship with local fire and safety communities. Program Development & Execution Create and maintain site-specific EHS policies, procedures, and documentation. Lead facility risk assessments and job hazard analyses. Manage contractor safety programs and ensure proper onboarding and site orientation. Conduct regular EHS audits and lead corrective action efforts. Hands-On Support Serve as an on-the-floor leader actively engaging with production, maintenance, and logistics teams. Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to integrate EHS considerations into day-to-day operations and new process changes. Provide coaching and mentoring to all employees on EHS best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Leadership presence with the ability to influence and engage across all levels. Detail-oriented with a passion for safety and continuous improvement. Ability to stand, walk, and navigate manufacturing areas for extended periods. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including respirators as needed. Ability to respond to off-shift or emergency EHS situations.
Requirements:
Required:
At least 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory standards. Demonstrated ability to lead audits, investigations, and training programs. Comfortable in a hands-on, shop floor-centric role.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field. Experience in the metal powder or chemical blending industry. Certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar. Experience with ISO 14001 and/or
ISO 45001
systems. Experience in metal powders, chemicals, or hazardous materials within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
