Role:
The Plant Health & Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment within a manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations. The manager will lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize workplace hazards and promote employee well-being. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, the role ensures that safety protocols are integrated into daily operations and that all employees are trained and engaged in safety practices. Ultimately, the Plant Health & Safety Manager drives a culture of safety excellence that supports operational efficiency and protects the workforce.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management within a manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant federal, state, and local safety standards. Proven experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Strong communication skills with the ability to train and influence employees at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation. Experience with ISO 45001 or other occupational health and safety management systems. Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives related to manufacturing. Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools. Demonstrated leadership experience in managing cross-functional safety teams.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly. Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and reporting to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance. Coordinate and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels to promote awareness and adherence to safety standards. Collaborate with plant management and employees to foster a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in health and safety practices. Manage emergency response planning and preparedness activities, including drills and communication protocols. Maintain accurate records of safety metrics, incidents, and compliance documentation for internal and external reporting.
