RegionalHealth and Safety Manager Position Overview:
The Regional Health and Safety Manager champions and promotes safety awareness while monitoring safety related functions, including the satisfactory completion of risk assessments and audits. The Regional H & S Manager also facilitates improved health and safety conditions in the workplace by providing guidance to managers, supervisors and safety designees, focusing on reducing the frequency and severity of workplace injuries, illness, disease and compliance with all federal, state and local health and safety legislation, regulations, codes and standards. The territory for this position currently covers plants in TN, AR, TX and KY. This position must be based out of this territory. Also, candidates must have recent steel metals industry experience. Please highlight on your resume.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to ensure a standard approach to the implementation of the health and safety management initiatives, procedures, programs and workers compensation claims.
- Monitor existing programs for continuous health and safety improvement and provide effective integration of health and safety practices into business operations through required training and tracking of results to ensure target needs are addressed.
- Maintain audit plans, schedules, documents and findings and ensure that action plans are properly addressed with suitable corrective action plans.
- Liaison with Corporate Health and Safety to ensure branches are aware of latest corporate plans and targets.
- Prepare toolbox sessions on issues currently relevant in improving health and safety issues.
- Assist and review all incident investigations and ensure they are conducted correctly, and proper preventative measures are suggested.
- Research best practices and emerging information relating to health and safety regarding the implementation of preventative measures.
Job Requirements:
- Must have at least 5+ years current direct safety experience and proficient in occupational health and safety standards. Must have recent steel metal industry experience. Please highlight this experience on your resume.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Must have direct knowledge and experience of EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations
- Experience with Workers Compensation laws and strong report writing skills for documenting safety procedures and incidents
- Must be able to travel overnight approximately 30% of the time
