$65,000 to $75,000DOE Job Summary:
The Safety Supervisor will provide oversight and accountability for Regional Operations by setting achievable goals and expectations while promoting a culture of safety throughout our operations. The Safety Supervisor will also promote success by managing and advising the warehouse, distribution staff, drivers and leadership team members on regulatory requirements and company policies, monitoring compliance with requirements and discovering solutions to risk related issues in a fast-paced environment. This requires frequent visits to our various facilities, including customer locations throughout the region. The primary goals include providing leadership and accountability for safety outcomes, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations, helping further inter-departmental communications, reducing claims and losses, assisting in claims management and facilitating employee education.Job Description:
- Conducts frequent site safety inspections/audits to ensure that safe operating procedures are being adhered to, documents findings and implements corrective actions. Performs job site analyses to identify potential employee exposures to injuries and illnesses and institutes safe work practices / procedures.
- Has a willingness and aptitude to train employees on various company and industry practices including but not limited to: First Aid / CPR, material handling equipment Operator Certifications, PPE, Hazard Communication, OSHA rules and regulations.
- Reviews current and establishes new safety programs and standard for warehouse. Distribution and transportation operations that ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws and regulations as well as comply with corporate safety goals.
- Conducts driver "spot" inspections at company facilities on a regular basis performing mock DOT Level II roadside inspections, and k OSHA facilities inspections.
- Monitors HOS performance of drivers within the region including violations, unidentified driving, conflicts, odometer gaps, and certifications, using data from ELD in cab devices.
- Monitor Maintenance schedules and ensure all equipment is safe and operational with minimum downtime.
- Monitors Telematics performance from systems such as roll stability, lane departures, panic brake, and collision mitigation, including the use of camera systems.
- Assists in the process of and monitor the handling of claims related to accidents, incidents, injuries, fuel spills or cargo. Assist in the handling of claims resolution, including direct settlement and subrogation activities. Helps manage daily activities regarding injury management and worker's compensation issues.
- Coaches and educates on process or regulatory requirements in accordance with company policy and governmental regulation.
- Conducts monthly meetings with employees to communicate new information and as part of a broad-based risk reduction education program.
- Issues remedial training assignments and conduct post-accident and incident root cause analysis to determine remediation steps.
- Helps respond to and resolve customer concerns related to accident or incident issues.
- Acts as a liaison between customers, frontline employes and leadership to collaborate in resolving safety or compliance related issues.
- Travels to multiple facilities in the region sues.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Requirements:
A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to organize, control and manage the effective oversight of multiple locations from a safety and risk management perspective. This requires the ability to work closely and foster collaboration within and across organizations, including company employees at all levels, customers, vendors, claimants, and the motoring public. The position requires integration of negotiation skills, analysis of problems, and the ability to understand and translate the company goals into appropriate actions. Responsibility includes areas of oversight of multiple locations, and the frontline employees for safety purposes. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer literacy, analytical skills and the ability to function in an electronic communication environment are essential. A commitment to comply with and support safety standards, promote a culture of safety, and drive behavioral outcomes as well as ensure compliance to all regulatory and company policies and procedures is imperative. A background in safety management as well as experience in warehousing, distribution and transportation experience is required. Moderate weekly travel between these multiple locations is required and it is imperative that your license history will pass our insurance's vetting.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures. Must be able to walk a great distance over various uneven terrain. Pay to be commensurate with experience.Preferred Skills:
- 4 Year College Degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer Literate (Laptop) with experience using programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, MS Word, G-Suite, and proprietary Windows-based operating systems.
