Company Profile San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear. Position SAS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Environmental, Health and Safety Department as the Environmental, Health and Safety Corporate Manager who will report to the Head of Human Resources. Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. Responsibilities for the Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Manager Maintain and continue to enhance safety training programs in all applicable safety competency areas for factory, distribution center, and support areas Maintain and enhance safety & environmental awareness training material and programs with an emphasis on behavior-based safety, increasing hazard awareness, and supporting regulatory compliance and internal environmental management programs Analyze and assess plant safety through regular inspections and audits to drive safety resource allocation and initiatives to reduce injuries Responsible for inspecting the facilities to detect existing or potential environmental health and safety hazards, including identification of opportunities to reduce safety and regulatory risk Work closely with plant leadership to assure that practices and procedures are planned and followed Work closely with departments to enhance and deliver safety programs (lockout/tag out) Provide regular written reports, other safety-related results and updates to Head of HR Qualifications for Environmental, Health & Safety Corporate Manager Bachelor s degree in Safety, Engineering or related technical field preferred Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences At least 5-years experience in the required fields Knowledge of Environmental requirements Physical Requirements Physical labor is necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing and engaging in repetitive motions. Must be able to lift 25 lbs Must be able to sit or stand for 8 - 10 hours. Manual dexterity and coordination Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer, visual inspection, and prepare and analyze projects.
