Construction Safety Manager Reports To:
Safety Program Director Position Summary The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing company-wide safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role promotes a strong safety culture, reduces workplace incidents, and ensures all construction projects operate safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Safety Program Management Implement and maintain comprehensive construction safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including those of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Establish safety goals, metrics, and performance indicators. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and injuries. Regulatory Compliance Monitor compliance with OSHA, environmental, and industry safety standards. Conduct regular jobsite inspections and audits. Manage documentation, permits, certifications, and regulatory reporting requirements. Coordinate responses to regulatory inspections and investigations. Training and Education Develop and deliver safety orientation programs for employees and subcontractors. Conduct ongoing safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns. Incident Investigation Lead investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents. Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety performance data. Leadership and Culture Promote a proactive safety culture across all project sites. Advise executive leadership on safety-related matters and risk management strategies. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to resolve safety concerns. Mentor and supervise safety managers, coordinators, and specialists. Risk Assessment Evaluate project-specific hazards and develop mitigation strategies. Review site-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). Support pre-construction planning from a safety perspective. Qualifications Experience 10+ years of construction safety experience. 5+ years in a leadership or management role. Experience with large commercial, industrial, civil, or infrastructure projects. Certifications (Preferred) OSHA 30-Hour OSHA 10-hour First Aid/CPR certification Required Skills Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Incident investigation and root-cause analysis expertise. Risk assessment and hazard recognition capabilities. Excellent organizational and reporting skills. Physical Requirements Frequent travel to construction sites. Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, and work in outdoor environments. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
