This position will interface daily with management, field employees and clients. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges and responsibilities of helping to maintain safety manuals, loss control program injury stats, safety training and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains employee and peer relationships by providing a "Safety First" work environment. Participates and provides leadership on safety committees to resolve safety issues. Promotes a positive and preventative work environment. Assists in and prepares safety data and reports. Help develop controls for identified hazards. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control system, policies, and procedures. Recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace incidents. Conduct and coordinate on-site checks to audit conditions and program sustainability. Assist with monitoring and implement ongoing updates in environmental/safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements. Ordering of safety supplies and products. Evaluates plans and administers training programs, as well as other employee safety procedures. Investigates injuries, conditions and incidents that do, or could, involve actual or potential liability. Maintains adequate records of pertinent data and compiles or initiates the compilation of the required reports on individual job occupational injury and illness experience. Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace. Solicits feedback from employees and communicates regularly with construction teams to ensure that company and customer expectations are exceeded.
Skill Requirements:
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one and group situations with management, employees, customers, suppliers and vendors Ability to give instructions; to speak clearly, effectively, and professionally in positive or negative situations Ability to make presentations and deliver training to staff Ability to deliver constructive feedback diplomatically. Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to adapt behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles. Ability to analyze data and make good decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment; supporting and explain reasoning for decisions Make timely decisions; and identify when issues should be referred to appropriate leadership. Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of company, client, supplier, vendor, and employee information Knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; internet and email systems. Knowledge of OSHA standards (1910 & 1926)
Qualifications/Experience:
• BS./B.A. degree preferred with entry level related experience in the construction field required and knowledge of OSHA standards is preferred . BS./B.A. degree preferred with 2+ years of safety experience and competent knowledge of OSHA standards is required for mid-level. Strong understanding of the construction industry including the development of schedules and budgets, general means and methods is preferred for entry-level and required for mid-level. Company vehicle may be provided if daily travel is required.
