Environmental Health Manager Waushara County Health Department | Wautoma, WI Are you passionate about protecting public health and ensuring safe environments for your community? Waushara County is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health Manager to lead and oversee our Environmental Health and Food Safety & Recreational Licensing programs. This is a vital public service role with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
Position Summary:
The Environmental Health Manager supervises and implements programs focused on environmental health, food safety, and recreational licensing. This leadership role involves enforcing public health laws, conducting inspections, providing consultation and education, and responding to environmental health issues throughout Waushara County.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support Environmental Health program staff, including training, evaluation, and scheduling. Lead FDA Food Code standardization and compliance in partnership with state agencies. Conduct and review environmental health inspections and investigations (e.g., food establishments, recreational facilities, radon, lead, rabies). Serve as the primary liaison with local, state, and federal partners. Coordinate public health response, investigations, and enforcement when needed. Maintain certifications and lead the county's Radon Information Center. Facilitate quality improvement and performance management initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:
Current Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian (RS) license or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire. 1-3 years of relevant experience in environmental health or a related field. Valid Wisconsin driver's license and access to reliable transportation. Strong knowledge of public health law, sanitation practices, and environmental inspection techniques. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
Working Conditions:
This position includes both office and field work, with potential exposure to environmental hazards. Use of personal protective equipment and travel within the county are required. Why Join Us? Competitive pay:
$31.35 to $33.46 to start, based on experience.
