The role of the Front Gate Utility includes but is not limited to aiding the Nucor Steel Birmingham division in managing proper visitor, driver, and contractor check-ins/check-outs, operational efficiency and flow for inbound and outbound loads, managing proper entrance integrity, phone directory assistance, operational duties in the Shipping Department, ensuring all Front Gate documentation is accurate, and all procedures and protocols are followed. These duties shall be performed professionally as this role will be the face of Nucor Steel Birmingham with anyone entering the Nucor facility. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED Willingness to work unplanned, unscheduled overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts Willingness to work in extreme situations including: hot, cold, and rainy weather, dusty conditions, and fast paced, high pressure environmentPreferred Qualifications:
Shipping experience and/or familiar with logistics A track record of being a positive, problem solver, who continuously looks for improvement Organized, goal oriented, and results driven Self-starter, always looking for work that needs done and ways to improve.
