Job DescriptionThe Safety Specialist will support the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department, with a primary focus on reviewing Post-Job Offer Medical Questionnaires completed by drivers during orientation and comparing them with DOT medical documentation to identify discrepancies or concerns before driver release. The position may also assist with Hours-of-Service compliance and other EHS-related responsibilities as needed. This role will receive exposure to a broad range of safety and compliance functions, with additional responsibilities assigned over time.
Review Post-Job Offer Medical Questionnaires completed by drivers during orientation.
Compare questionnaire responses with DOT medical examination documentation to identify discrepancies, omissions, or potential concerns.
Escalate items requiring additional review to EHS leadership prior to driver release from orientation.
Communicate with orientation, recruiting, safety, and other departments to obtain necessary information or documentation.
Maintain accurate and confidential records related to the review process.
Assist with Hours of Service (HOS) compliance reviews and related driver documentation as needed.
Support OSHA, DOT, safety, compliance, reporting, and other EHS projects as assigned.
Assist with additional EHS responsibilities as the position develops. QualificationsStrong attention to detail and ability to accurately review and compare documentation.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and follow established procedures.
Transportation, DOT compliance, Hours of Service, safety, driver onboarding, or related experience preferred.
Ability and willingness to learn DOT, OSHA, and other EHS-related requirements.4-year degree Additional InformationThis job is an hourly position with no guarantees for career progression.
