YOUR ROLE
Responsible for the implementation and administration of group compliance with all applicable state and federal agencies, including OSHA regulations to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and the public. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Assist in the education and motivation of employees to follow safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment through training, presentations and behavioral observations. Implement and administer safety programs for all departments throughout the component including contractor certifications, safety orientations and training. Prepare records, reports and make recommendations to management for action and/or correction. Use the stop-work authority whenever applies. Maintain accurate records and files and prepare periodic and special reports. Assess and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and any other Safety related institution at municipal, state and federal level such as
EPA, NFPA.
Ensure compliance with Quality Management system by monitoring QE, CAPAs, Internal Audits. Make recommendations to appropriate management regarding policies and procedures and implement following approval to ensure compliance. Investigate accidents, incidents and safety complaints and alert appropriate Management. Based on regulations and policies and procedures, act as a resource for operating department managers and supervisors regarding safety, health, environmental, licensing and permitting and select maintenance issues. Assist in the interpretation of statutory requirements and evaluation and modification of loss control program components to ensure compliance with industry standards and legislative mandates established by general law. Interview and confer with contractors and employees regarding safety issues and problems. Act as liaison with contract and vending companies in overseeing the work of contractors and vendors providing safety services and equipment for the facility. Provide support in the estimation of costs and effectiveness of various safety and maintenance programs. Ensure a positive and consistent corporate image and approach is integrated throughout all training efforts. Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications and Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and vendors. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships at all organizational levels and ability to develop constructive working relationships with station management to obtain their support and involvement in safety accountability. Ability to overcome operational challenges, suggesting new and cost-effective processing techniques. Experienced in conducting group or one-on-one safety related training and the ability to tactfully address classroom challenges from opinionated students. Experience with, or ability to understand internal and external implications of solutions proposed, potential areas of risk and methods to limit liabilities. Ability to analyze complex procedural requirements and skilled in developing and documenting processes and procedures. Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization, presentation and negotiating skills. Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborate with internal and external resources, gain credibility with senior management and manage through conflict with a positive, flexible attitude. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Spanish is a plus.
Minimum:
Minimum 3 years' experience in LARGE Warehouse operations. Experience in investigating accidents, incidents and safety complaints. In-depth knowledge of Safety & Environment rules and regulations
  • municipal, state and federal.
Experience in conducting safety inspections and reviewing performance functions for conformance with safety and environmental health regulations. Demonstrated ability in assisting with evaluation and estimation of costs and effectiveness of safety and maintenance programs.
Preferred:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or classes towards certification preferred; or other industry equivalent safety certification/training.
