Job Description

Job Summary The On-Site Safety Representative is responsible for all safety oversight and compliance for various construction projects.

Medical, Dental, Vision low-cost premiums even for family coverage Company-paid life/AD&D insurance Company-paid short-term disability Paid sick/vacation/holiday 401k/Company Funded Pension Program (program is dependent upon location and job type) Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Additional voluntary benefits Compensation Responsibilities Develop site-specific safety program Confirm each worker's compliance with Cal/OSHA drug testing Conduct on-site new project orientation for each worker assigned to the project Review construction work plans for each subcontractor before starting work Conduct or attend pre-planning sessions for high-hazard work such as excavations, demolition, confined space entry, falsework, crane hoisting, high-risk utilities such as high-pressure pipelines with fuel or natural gas, and tunneling or boring Conduct weekly job site safety meetings Review work schedules, including subcontractors' work schedules, to ensure adequacy of job hazard analyses and address all safety concerns and issues Ensure safety data sheets are available on-site for all materials and have a hazard communication program for informing workers of material hazards Verify compliance with hazardous waste requirements, including spill prevention and control measures Conduct safety inspections of job site for hazards and compliance with safety requirements in the specifications and 8 CA Code of Regulations Report all incidents to management Other duties assigned by management Education High school diploma/GED One or more certifications from the Board of Certified Safety, such as Certified Safety Professional, Construction Health and Safety Technician, etc. Requirements/Qualifications Valid California Driver's License The ability to attend and obtain the
CAL/OSHA
30-Hour construction training course and traffic control supervisor training The ability to obtain other safety certifications as required by manager Applicant must be a competent and qualified person as defined by CAL/OSHA and must provide safety oversight on projects 3 years of experience in heavy construction, heavy industrial, or oil and energy Knowledge of Caltrans specifications and plans
Preferred:
Possession of various certifications from the Board of Certified SafetyConditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. In accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, for work that will be performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
