Management Specialist - Event Safety Coordinator

Major Functions The Event Safety Coordinator at the Ocean Center plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests, staff, vendors, and clients. This position involves active facility monitoring, emergency response coordination, access control, and support of venue operations in alignment with internal safety protocols and local regulatory requirements. The coordinator serves as a proactive presence on the property, working closely with internal departments, contracted security, emergency services, and event clients.

Patrol interior and exterior areas to detect and address safety hazards or suspicious activity. Monitor safety systems (Closed Circuit Television CCTV, alarms, access control) and respond to incidents. Provide guest escorts, wayfinding, and emergency assistance with relevant contracted services as needed. Operate radio communications using proper protocol and call signs. Serve as dispatcher and point-of-contact at the Event Safety Office. Maintain logs, including Daily Log, Shift Briefings, and Incident Reports. Review Event Order Confirmations (EOCs), dock plans, and daily reports. Coordinate with emergency medical teams and law enforcement during events. Enforce proper reporting and documentation of all emergency incidents. Open and secure the building according to event schedules. Oversee access to secure areas and control door locking/unlocking. Support loading dock logistics, including vendor check-ins. Provide professional and courteous service to all facility users. May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs. Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances. Resolve guest inquiries and escalate issues to supervisors when appropriate Responds to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs. Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or possession of GED, and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in security, emergency management, or hospitality. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must pass required safety and emergency response training within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter. Must be certified in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Stop the Bleed within 30 days of hire and maintain certifications as a condition of employment thereafter. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at time of hire. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of safety regulations, uniform standards, and OSHA stands for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)/Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) guidelines. Knowledge of safety protocols, building operations, and radio communication. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals. Ability to respond to emergency situations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Ability to interact effectively with others.

Mental Demands:

Ability to read and comprehend technical and scientific manuals, journals, documents associated with program area; reports, safety instructions, memos, letters; may be required to read and comprehend legal documents and financial reports. Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. Ability to write letters, procedures, memos, reports relaying information, ideas, data, and detail. Ability to speak clearly and concisely relaying information to laymen. Ability to analyze data and develop conclusions.

Physical Demands:

Ability to walk, climb, lift, carry, push, pull up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, run, reach, talk, see, hear. Visual acuity (depth perception and peripheral vision) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Finger dexterity.
