Job Title:
Site Safety and Health Officer Job Description This role provides dedicated safety and health oversight for a three‑month construction project involving the demolition of an Air Traffic Control Tower at Whiting Field. The Site Safety and Health Officer ensures that all construction activities comply with applicable safety regulations and project-specific requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture on site. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day site safety and health activities for the demolition of the Air Traffic Control Tower at Whiting Field during the three‑month project period. Implement and enforce construction safety procedures in alignment with OSHA standards, EM 385-1-1 requirements, and project-specific safety plans. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviors, and take prompt corrective actions. Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout all phases of construction and demolition. Lead or support job hazard analyses and risk assessments for construction and demolition tasks, ensuring appropriate controls are in place. Provide site safety orientations and ongoing safety briefings to workers and visitors, reinforcing best practices and project safety expectations. Coordinate and document safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other safety communications with on-site personnel. Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures. Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, reports, and documentation required by the project and relevant regulatory bodies. Support emergency preparedness efforts on site, including drills and response coordination in line with First Aid and CPR protocols. Collaborate with construction management and field teams to integrate safety considerations into planning, scheduling, and daily operations. Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with workers, encouraging hazard reporting, and recognizing safe work practices. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in construction safety on active construction sites, preferably involving demolition activities. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards, with the ability to apply them in the field. Experience in site safety oversight, including inspections, hazard identification, and corrective action follow-up. Familiarity with construction management practices and coordination with field supervision and project teams. Ability to interpret and apply

certification. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Strong communication skills to deliver safety briefings, conduct meetings, and document safety activities clearly and accurately. Ability to work independently on site, make sound safety decisions, and escalate issues appropriately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working on projects involving Air Traffic Control Towers or similar critical infrastructure. Experience supporting short-term or fast-paced construction projects with defined timelines. Background in construction management or related field. Ability to build positive working relationships with field personnel, supervisors, and project leadership. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple safety tasks, documentation, and reporting requirements. Work Environment The Site Safety and Health Officer works on-site at Whiting Field for the duration of the three‑month demolition project. The environment is an active construction and demolition site, requiring frequent field presence, walking, standing, and observation of work activities in various weather conditions. The role involves close collaboration with construction management, field crews, and subcontractors, and requires adherence to all site safety protocols. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required at all times in designated areas, consistent with standard construction site practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Milton, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
